Can you splice Crepe Myrtle tree seeds to make two colors?
I would like to grow a multicolored tree by splicing the seeds of two different colored trees.
Well, you can buy bi-colors. I have a red/white one. But if you are growing from seed, just plant two together of different colors, as long as they are both the same size– Crepes come in miniature, dwarf, and standard sizes. Since they are typically grown in many places as a bush, planting two bushes of the same size together in the same hole or right next to each other will result in stems of each color in the overall bush– though of course most on one side will be one color, on the other side the other color. Or even get more creative and plant 2 of each color in a bunch, for more stems. They are easy to grow from seed by the way.
