Time to plant?
With the warmer weather, like many of us, I am dying to start some seeds. I have an unheated greenhouse, with an earth floor, fiberglass roof and wall fiberglass. There are single-glazed windows on each side, and the walls are covered with a film home. When is it safe to start some seeds out there? Then I hardened my plants there too? If they are inside the dwelling, will they still get frosted / Froze? I took them out of their isolated building today that the artificial light, to give them some sunshine and fresh air, but I afraid to let out all night, especially not to weaning off the heat. I live in zone 5 and have plants of all kinds, orchid jasmine, cacti and succulents. I have thousands of seeds that I sow directly, but some, I prefer to start myself. When I can I use my new Greenhouse!
NOW !!!!!!! get a thermometer up / down and put in there that way you will know what temperature it is executed in night. (they cost about $ 10-15) if possible next to have a seat belt or germination of seed mats which extend the usefulness of your greenhouse for several months. Any how ... arrange the seeds you have in the order that they may be sown. varieties that can take cold peas, spinach, Lobelia, pansies, petunias, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. Once you know what the night temperature is in the greenhouse, you better idea of the amount of things you can get fixed immediately. There are many seeds that need heat to germinate but they are very good in a area in cold weather once they are above the ground. If the greenhouse is running cold at night increase the thermal mass inside structure (rocks, bricks, jugs of water, cement etc.), it will also help to have wildly fluctuating weather. many plants can treat low of about 43 without slowing down.
