Every year I am getting telephone calls from folks asking me for ideas for a basket to give their mum on mum’s day. We usually have the standard baskets in stock that we are able to suggest, like a snack basket filled with cookies and candy. Fruit baskets are nice too. In fact, you can get actually creative with cookie or fruit baskets, and have them prepared to appear like eatable flowers.
Another mum’s Day standard is a basket full of lotions, soaps, gels and creams. These types of baskets became standards because they are full of things that most mum’s like. However , you don’t have to stay with the old standards. You can create a ma’s day basket that’s suited uniquely for your mom. Here are 4 fresh ideas.
For the mummy who likes to garden : Baskets aren’t so useful in garden as a bucket or a flowerpot, so find a bucket or flower pot to put everything in. Linear Cabinet Light Fixtures
As interior architecture becomes more sophisticated, and as the functional and the decorative purposes of lighting converge more and more, linear strips are becoming the preferred form of cabinet linear strip lighting fixtures. Low Voltage In-Cabinet Light Fixtures
When electric costs are a high priority, low voltage cabinet light fixtures prove an excellent light source with a minimum of power conservation. One of the many advantages that our low voltage cabinet lights offer is a smaller than industry standard transformer that is much easier to conceal, allowing our cabinet light fixtures to be used inside cabinets of any size. Again, the combined luminance of vertical and horizontal strip lighting creates a much more even, shadow-free field of light that is also easy on the eyes because of the unique glare shields and directional photometric of the strip light itself. Curio Cabinet Lighting with Linear Strip Fixtures
Curio cabinets without mirrors can be superbly lit with custom linear cabinet light fixtures. Again, customization is what makes our curio lighting lights ideal for these displays. Regardless of the dimensions of the cabinet, custom series strips can of sight on either side of the vertical supports, and horizontal strips from any of our other four models can be combined to create an ambient field of what appears to be sourceless light. Under Cabinet Lighting Fixtures
Some custom-built under cabinet light fixtures minimize glare by making angles of incidence work on behalf of the end user. These fixtures typically produce a better quality of illumination than you get from larger fluorescents or puck lights. Puck lights mount in the center of the cabinet underbelly and tend to create white spots on the counter below. The larger fluorescent fixtures mount toward the back of the cabinet, creating the undesirable effect of throwing light straight into a person’s eyes. However, cabinet light fixtures mounted at the front bottom surface of the cabinet do just the opposite. They angle the light away from the eyes, back toward the wall. This creates a smooth, even distribution of light that can be fine tuned even further with user friendly dimming controls on the unit. This is probably why we are now experiencing such an influx of orders from commercial contractors through our lighting sales agent network.
Although many people consider custom linear under cabinet light fixtures to be luxury items too expensive to be installed as function lighting sources on many kitchens and bathrooms, this is not truly the case. Low voltage units like we have already discussed make the cost of operating these sophisticated under cabinet lights far less than that of many other light sources. Even typically costly sources such as xenon lamps become super power savers when fitted to a low voltage strip and a transformer fitted with a dimmer that regulates electrical use and light output. Even further savings can be generated by fitting LED festoon lamps to low voltage under cabinet light fixtures. The average home owner can buy what is technically a luxury item that costs less to use and compounds a savings on the light bill that ultimately pays for the equipment. The big change was the lengthening of the work day. Prior to the light bulb you could use say an oil lamp, but they really don’t put out a lot of light. With a light bulb, now you can light a factory brightly day or night. It obviously also improved the lighting even in the daytime for a large factory.

Ultrasonic Flow Meter – Some Basic Principles
Ultrasonic flow meter technology has much improved over the last few years and now forms a viable flow measurement technique compared to other methods such as turbine and electromagnetic type systems. The first Doppler ultrasonic flow meter units became available in the early 70’s. To begin with, as with all new technologies they were not very accurate, difficult to install and costly. However, the newest Time of Flight ultrasonic flow meter and Doppler types are proving to be both reliable and accurate. Accuracy has improved significantly with most ultrasonic flow meter manufacturers claiming 0.5% accuracy if the meters are correctly installed.
With these two technologies, which ultrasonic flow meter should you use?
Although Doppler ultrasonic flow meters use an older technology, they are ideal for liquids with air bubbles or slurries with significant solid particles. They determine the flow using the Doppler shift method, by measuring the change in frequency created by an object moving towards, or away from the measurement point. Normally liquids with a minimum of 100ppm concentration at 100microns particle size or bigger would be suitable for a Doppler ultrasonic flow meter. One stumbling block of most Doppler ultrasonic flow meter systems is that they are less accurate in low flow conditions.
A transit time ultrasonic flow meter is ideal for clean fluids such as water and oil. These meters are more advanced than Doppler ultrasonic flow meter types due to the advanced calculations used to determine the flow rate. Two transducers are used, the first sends an acoustic signal which is bounced off of the bottom of the pipe, the second transducer receives the signal. The ultrasonic flow meter is then able to determine flow by calculating the time it takes to receive the signal.
Portable ultrasonic flow meter kits are now available for plant wide surveys with minimal fuss and no down time. The first portable ultrasonic flow meter units were heavy and quite large, basically a luggable design. As ultrasonic flow meter design has improved over time, the instruments have become much smaller, lighter and more power efficient and are truly hand portable. Also many ultrasonic flow meter models now have integral data loggers, allowing the user to leave the meter on site so it can record average flow rates and flow totals.
An ultrasonic flow meter will be most accurate when fitted on a long, straight piece of pipe, free from obstructions such as elbows and valves. Also, any rusty pipes should be cleaned before using an ultrasonic flow meter. Ultrasonic jelly should also be smeared under the sensor to ensure a solid contact on the pipe.
The biggest advantage to using an ultrasonic flow meter is maintenance. Older insertion meters usually require the plant to be shut down while installing. However an ultrasonic flow meter can be installed without stopping the process. Also as an ultrasonic flow meter has no moving parts it cannot wear out.

the hand held meter measure blood glucose level from blood sample taken by pricking in the finger. lab test is done on blood sample taken from fore arm. how much variation is acceptable between these two readings.
hand held meters do show a difference.about 20-30 is acceptable between glucometer and lab tests.capillaries take time to change their blood glucose levels compared to venous blood esp in the post meal state.
